Welcome to urbanhawk.info. This site is dedicated to not only hawks and other birds of prey but all wildlife that has found a way to adapt to urban environments and coexist with humans.

Many species are driven to the brink of extinction because of habitat loss. Things like urban sprawl in danger a lot of different animals but some animals are able to not only survive but even thrive in an urban setting.

It’s really amazing how much wildlife there can be in your neighborhood that you may not even be aware of. In the city you would expect to see animals like small birds, squirrels, and even possibly rats and mice. However, other animals like large birds of prey, rabbits, raccoons and even coyotes are able to carve out a niche for themselves in a city setting.

Below is a video of a red tailed hawk enjoying a tasty meal in Central Park. Yes there are birds of prey in New York City. If they can make it there they’ll make it anywhere.
